The International Trade Fair of Machines, Tools and Components for the Wood and Furniture Industries DREMA is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. The event, which will be held on September 10-13, 2024 at the MTP Poznań Expo grounds, will once again attract to Poznan several thousand specialists from the wood and furniture industry. They will be able to get acquainted here with the latest machines and technologies for woodworking and furniture production.

The 40th anniversary of DREMA trade fair

DREMA was held for the first time in 1978, and even then it attracted great interest. The first edition of the event was attended by 82 exhibitors from 11 countries, who presented their trade offer on an area of about 5 thousand square meters. At the time, the conclusion of trade agreements was handled by the Foreign Trade Company POLIMEX-CEKOP. Among the foreign exhibitors were such well-known companies as: FAMA MASCHINENBAU, SCHELLING and Co, N. V. DECOTONE PERMA V. GRUMSCHWENSEN, ARJOMARI DECOR, F EKSPORT, REINHARD DUSPOHL, HOMAG, I RAKOLL CHEMIE, KLEBCHEMIE. LETRON, MAKA-MAX-MAYER, G. SIEMPELKAMP, W AIR DYNAMICS, CENTRO TECHNOLOG ITALIANO, OERTLI WERKZEUGE. ULR STEINEMANN AG.

Initially the event was held on a biennial basis, alternating with the Exhibition of Machinery and Equipment for Furniture Production, presenting the offer of Polish exhibitors only. In 1994, due to the dynamic development and huge potential of the wood industry in Poland, it was decided to change the formula to an annual one.

Over the years, DREMA evolved, broadening the range of topics. The event became increasingly popular among both Polish and foreign exhibitors and visitors. There was a particular surge of interest in the 1990s, when it became possible to open up the Polish market completely. In recent years, the subject matter of DREMA has expanded to include tools, materials and components for the production of furniture, both box and upholstered.

DREMA is one of the few trade fairs in the world that, during the pandemic period, was held regularly without interruption according to the calendar. Today DREMA is the largest supply center for furniture manufacturers in Central and Eastern Europe. The importance of the Poznan trade fair is evidenced by the fact that DREMA is one of a dozen global events dedicated to the woodworking industry that are officially endorsed by the European Federation of Woodworking Machinery Manufacturers (EUMABOIS).

In addition, the events accompanying the fair - such as the DREMA for Children charity event and the DREMA Design project - have joined the interdisciplinary "New European Bauhaus" (NEB) project launched by the European Commission in 2020, supporting the implementation of the idea of sustainable development.
