On September 11, 2024, during DREMA, the Poznan International Fair will host the most important meeting of the furniture industry - the 9th edition of the Polish Furniture Congress. This is an annual event organized by the Polish Chamber of Commerce of Furniture Manufacturers, which indicates the directions of change in the industry, the upcoming challenges, as well as the best-fit strategies.

The Congress brings together managers from both leading furniture companies and young, dynamic companies. They are united by their interest in effective business development. In the previous edition, more than 100 people attended the meeting. During the 11th Polish Furniture Congress, as every year, there will be important and current topics for the furniture industry. The main issues to be addressed are:

The situation of the furniture and woodworking industry in Poland - prospects for the coming years

Analysts have long been sounding the alarm about the deteriorating performance of the furniture and wood industries. Weakness in our traditional foreign markets (especially in Germany, where the vast majority of Polish furniture production goes), is having a negative impact on our exports. The latest data also indicate a slowdown in furniture consumption in the domestic market. Can we count on an improvement in the situation in the near future? What are the prospects for the coming years?

Prospects for wood raw material supply to the wood industry: challenges and threats

According to many representatives of the furniture and timber industry, the decision of the Ministry of Climate and Environment on forest management could mean potentially huge revenue losses of tens of billions of zlotys a year for companies in these industries, as well as the loss of tens of thousands of jobs, which will affect the least industrialized regions of the country the most. The list of challenges and threats to the timber industry's supply of raw material is very long.

What are the benefits of forest management certification for nature, forest managers, the timber industry and society?

The withdrawal of the State Forests from FSC certification caused a panic among furniture manufacturers last year. The effect of these actions was that Polish raw wood was exported en masse abroad, including to China. Furniture and paper manufacturers trembled about exports, because wood products without certification would not be able to sell abroad. Fortunately, business pressure proved effective and the government announced the return of FSC certification. The benefits of certification are enormous and go far beyond ecology.

PR of the furniture and timber industry

During this panel discussion we will jointly consider how to build correct awareness of the importance of the wood industry among the public and politicians.

As always, the Polish Furniture Congress will also be an excellent opportunity to build networks and exchange information and experience in direct backstage talks. It is worth already planning to attend this must-attend industry event. Admission to the meeting is free after prior registration.
